Reading is a master key that unlocks all doors to various sciences. In other words, reading is a method for broadening your knowledge, and if you keep reading, you will become a scholar.
The more you read, the more your knowledge will expand. However, the best way to gain knowledge is to focus on a specific type of subject for the majority of your reading time (say, 70%) and read about everything related to that subject until you master it, while the remaining (30% ) of your reading time is spent trying to gain general knowledge.
Never waste your time on things that you will never use in the future. Creating your future is similar to building a villa for yourself in the location of your choice, where you want it to be as convenient and comfortable as possible, with all the necessary furniture, equipment, and tools.
Anything more would be too much junk, which you would not want to bring into your villa, your convenient and comfortable space where you and your loved ones want to spend your lives quietly and with utter tranquility.
